Cooking series with SoyaRama-Vegan coconut chicken curry with basmati rice

Part 2 of the cooking series with SoyaRama. I decided to try the chicken breast range to make a vegan coconut curry.

Vegan coconut curry with SoyaRama

We don’t eat curry often but when I feel like eating curry on a Thursday, I enjoy experimenting with a vegan curry.

Why I cook curry with SoyaRama and coconut milk?

To me curry needs a hearty gravy and there is nothing more comforting than a curry made from roasted masala and coconut cream. To elevate this dish, I prepared it with SoyaRama “chicken breasts”. This created a lovely texture to the vegan coconut curry apart from its great tasting flavour. The “chicken breasts” are made from wheat protein which packs in the nutrients into the curry. This product is  safely enjoyed by anyone especially if you are aiming to transition to a vegan lifestyle.

 Cooking with SoyaRama Fish-Liks

Plant based fish tacos
Plant based fish tacos

Soya Rama is a thriving family business established in 1985. I was lucky to have these products hand delivered to me to taste test. The name may imply that it is a soya based product but it is a wheat protein based product.

There are 3 products available in the market. I have all 3 products and today’s taste test will feature the Fish-Liks.

Soya Rama Fish-Liks

The products are free from preservatives, artificial colour, dairy, egg and meat.

Ingredients and a little about the product

For more information on the product, you can visit their website http://www.soyarama.co.za

The Fish-Liks are well seasoned to give a flavourful taste once prepared. The texture is similar to hake. My family enjoyed it and the product can be prepared in a variety of ways from simply fried, to a curry to a breyani.

Recipe

Ingredients

Soya Rama Fish-Liks

2 crisp lettuce leaves

coconut oil

Cumin coleslaw

1 cup coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage and carrot mixture)

1/4 cup vegan mayo (I used BeWell)

1/4 teaspoon ground and roasted cumin powder

Pink salt to taste

Coriander pepper salsa

1 small orange/green/red pepper

1/4 cup chopped coriander

1 Tablespoon lemon infused olive oil

Pink salt to taste

Method

Defrost Fish-Liks and fry for 10-12 minutes in some coconut oil.

While the Fish-Liks are frying prepare the coleslaw and pepper salsa. Both these can be prepared in 12 minutes.

Mix all the ingredients for the coleslaw and season with pink salt to taste.

Chop the pepper and coriander, add the olive oil and season with salt to taste.

To assemble the taco.

Place lettuce leave on a plate. Spread the coleslaw at the bottom. Add chopped Fish-Liks and top with coriander pepper salsa.

Happy Cooking!

PRIMA BABY INTRODUCE THE HOTTEST NEW STROLLER FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2017

8 / 17 / 172 / 26 / 18

Once again PRIMA BABY SA shines by introducing edgy trendsetting baby products into the parenting market.

FOPPAPEDRETTI PIULEGGERO!

“We believe in quality, in values that remain unchanged over time. We believe in the power of ideas, ideas that simplify everyday life.”

Foppapedretti came about from the passion for wood of its founder, Ezio Foppa Pedretti.
It all began in 1945, in the home in Telgate (in Bergamo) where young Ezio devoted his spare time to making wooden toys out of the leftovers from his uncle Pierino’s umbrella handle factory.
In the 1950s he began making the first products for babies, products that launched the company and became its visiting card for decades to come.
Wood remains the most important material used by Foppapedretti, but seeing as the company is always on the lookout for new ideas to satisfy the needs of the ever-changing market; in 2004 they embarked upon an adventure in the world of pushchairs. Foppapedretti wanted to apply its company philosophy to this industry as well, and the results are clear to see: products must be highly functional, practical and safe, but also innovative to always stay at least one step ahead.
And so, after about four years of experimentation, the only stroller with electrical motor on the market today was introduced in 2011 (production began in March 2012): MyoTronic, a product the President and CEO, Luciano Bonetti, invested a great deal of personal energy in.
In 2011, MyoTronic won the prestigious international Red Dot Design Award.
