Lifestyle after gallbladder removal

8 / 24 / 172 / 26 / 18

My gallbladder was removed last year in November due to gallstones and the movement of these stones into my bile ducts causing sever pain.

I would like to share my lifestyle after removing my gallbladder, what I can eat and can’t eat. The list is based on how my body reacts to the different foods and what I eat to support digestion and my liver function.

What I ate for about 3 days post surgery?
I ate a bland diet consisting of foods that are easily digested. The intention was to allow my body to adapt to the change in the way the bile is being processsed and to aid my body through the recovery process.
Breakfast: A cup of Earl Grey tea with almond milk and a smoothies made from bananas and coconut water.

Lunch: Chicken stew/broth or Eggs with crackers

Dinner: Soup with Provita

I started following a low FODMAP diet , which was not new to me as I was generally following it when I was diagnosed with IBS.There are days I indulge but it does leave me uncomfortable and I do feel a strain on my digestive system…after all we are human, we are allowed to indulge in moderation.

Typical foods I eat:

Soluable fiber – Effective in binding bile acid to reduce the risk of heartburn

Bananas,strawberries, blueberries carrots and oatmeal

Lean protein-Remove fat from the sides of your chops

Skinless chicken breasts, lean beef or pork and fish

Healthy fats

Avocados, almonds, chia seeds, cook with coconut oil and  salmon

I avoid eating fatty meals, dairy and high sugar meals.

Eating smaller meals spread over the day also helps with comfort levels!

My 5 must haves as a 30 something married women

8 / 2 / 172 / 26 / 18

I got married the year I turned 30 and it got me thinking about all the tools a wife should have under her belt when she hits that milestone age and happily wedded. These thoughts materialised into this list which I thought will be nice to share with my fellow women in this crazy paced world. If you tied the knot before thirty, please take this as an opportunity to share your thoughts. If you are still yet to find your stud-no rush…this list can also apply to you if you are in a committed relationship but not married.

Let’s start with the more playful part of the list and then move to the more grown up serious part of the list.

1.A recipe that will get your partner to agree to anything…

This one took a few trial and error recipes to get to the perfect lemon meringue pie recipe. The best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.

2.Lingerie that will make your partner forgive you no matter what…

Take the plunge and invest! Pair it up with a pair of sexy heels.

3.Skin care routine and products for your skin type…

You will be so grateful at 60 that you did this for yourself. Find the product that works for you. Cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise, moisturise and moisturise. Your partner will appreciate the time spent on taking care of yourself.

4.Find your happy place…

Be it the hair salon, the movies, the spa or meeting your best friend for drinks/high tea. I can’t emphasis the importance of having a go to place to JUST BE.Mine is without a doubt the mall doing some retail therapy.

5.Retirement and Life insurance policies ….

Taking care of our retirement to ensure we will be financially stable when we are spending our golden years relaxing was a MUST. No-one finds it pleasant to plan for death but it’s something that I did not want to find my husband unprepared if I passed on and he still needed to pay for debt and kids’ education. We both have policies to take care of retirement and life insurance. Do the research and speak to financial planners. Most importantly start early on in your life…
